Day of court
Arrive early. Phone on silent. No recording unless your lawyer says the room allows it.
- Photo ID, orders, one-page timeline, pen
- Kids’ schedule and school contacts if relevant
- Speak only when asked. Short answers. No speeches
- No arguing in the hallway, parking lot, or by text during breaks
- If they provoke you, look at your lawyer or the clerk — not at them
- Do not coach children in the waiting area
- Write down what the judge actually ordered before you leave
If you feel yourself heat up: feet on the floor, one slow breath, then: “I can answer that.” Stop.
After: food, a safe person, no victory post online.
