Money & work

Shared business & side hustle

If she can lock you out of the domain, the ads account, or the client list, that is leverage. Untangle slowly and legally — not with a midnight password war.

Not legal advice

Business and family property rules differ by U.S. state and Canadian province. Before you move money, change ownership, or wipe devices, talk to a lawyer who does both family and small-business issues if you can.

Inventory who actually controls

  • Legal entity (LLC, corp, sole prop) and whose name is on the filing
  • EIN / business number, registered agent, operating agreement
  • Bank, Stripe, PayPal, Square — signers and 2FA phone
  • Domain registrar, Google Workspace / Microsoft 365, hosting
  • Social accounts, ads manager, review pages
  • CRM / client list / email list / contractor agreements
  • Inventory, warehouse, vehicle titles used for the hustle

Safer first moves

  1. Export what you legally can to an account only you control (client list, invoices, tax returns)
  2. Write a one-page history: who built what, who paid, whose labor
  3. Do not impersonate her to seize accounts
  4. Do not drain operating accounts in a way that looks like hiding assets — ask counsel
  5. Change passwords you own after you have a plan for shared ones

Brand & reputation

Smear can hit Google reviews and the Instagram you built together. One calm public line beats a comment war. See public smear and smear card.
